Ingredients
- 3 cold eggs
- 1 tablespoon cold butter
- 2 tablespoon heavy cream (you can also use water, milk, stock, or creme fraiche in place of the heavy cream)
- ⅓ cup shredded cheddar cheese (use less if preferred)
- ⅛ salt (or more to taste)
- pinch black pepper (or more to taste)
Instructions
- Coat a cake pan or an oven-safe bowl with butter. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese. Using your fingers, break the remaining butter into smaller pieces and stir them into the mixture.
- Pour the egg mixture into the buttered pan and carefully place it in your air fryer basket or trivet. Air fry at 350°F (approximately 180°C) for 8 minutes. Once the cooking time is over, use a spatula to carefully stir the eggs, so that the raw egg comes on top. Close the lid and air fry for a further two minutes, then remove and transfer to a plate and serve (see notes below).
Cup of Yum
Notes
- If using other types of air fryers, i.e. other than the Ninja Foodi, repeat the process, that is, keep cooking and stirring at each two-minute interval until the eggs are properly cooked and are no longer runny. Remove the basket, transfer the scrambled eggs to a plate, garnish as desired (optional), and serve.
- Suggested Toppings:
- top with crumbled feta or parmesan cheese for more of a savory flavor.
- use a variety of herbs such as dill, chopped chives, oregano, or thyme to garnish.
- add some sliced sausage or fried bacon to the beaten eggs, just before cooking.
- you can also make it veggie-packed by adding sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, or some spinach.
