Nut-Free Homemade Pesto

This easy Homemade Pesto is also nut free!  It only takes 5 minutes and tastes amazing. Freshly made pesto is like summer in a jar!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups basil packed, fresh
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese 2 ounces, fresh grated
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced or pressed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice fresh
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Add everything except the olive oil to a food processor.
  2. While the processor is running, slowly pour the olive oil through the feed tube in a steady stream.  Process until smooth.
  3. If needed, scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula and pulse a few times until everything is incorporated.
  4. Store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • I used a 4 ounce package of basil from the grocery store and removed the stems, which left me with 3 packed cups of basil.
