Oat Milk Hot Chocolate

This creamy cup of oat milk hot chocolate is something I love waking up to in the morning. I add in powdered collagen for a boost of protein, rich chocolate and oat milk.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate chopped
  • 2 cups oat milk (or other milk of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • Pinch of kosher alt
  • 2 scoops of collagen (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, pour in the chocolate, oat milk, maple syrup and pinch of salt. Turn the heat to medium-low and warm slowly, whisking steadily, until the chocolate has melted and has married with the oat milk.
  2. Carefully transfer to the blender and pour in the scoops of collage, if using.
  3. Place the lid on and allow some steam to escape (if you don’t, it can sometimes lead to a bit of an explosion) and pulse for about 30 seconds, until nice and frothy.
  4. Divide amongst mugs and serve.

  • Variations - Feel free to use a different type of milk. Add cocoa powder if you want it a bit creamier. Use cacao powder if you want some added antioxidants.
  • Toppings - I say go crazy. Add whipped coconut cream or regular whipped cream. Top it with Mint Chocolate Chip Marshmallows, if you feel so inclined!
