Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 ml) whole milk
  • 6 Oreo cookies
  • ¼ cup semisweet chocolate bar shaved
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or more adjust to your sweetness preference

  1. Prepare the cookies: Separate the cream from the Oreo cookies. Grind the cookies into fine crumbs using a blender, or crush them in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin
  2. Warm the milk: In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
  3. Add ingredients: Stir in the Oreo cookie crumbs, Oreo cream, and shaved chocolate. Whisk continuously to ensure the chocolate melts smoothly and the cookies blend well with the milk.
  4. Sweeten: Add sugar to taste and stir until dissolved. Make sure the mixture doesn’t stick to the pan.
  5. Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into 2 cups or mugs. Top with whipped cream, crushed Oreos, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for a café-style finish.

Notes

  • Separate the cream from the Oreos, then grind or crush the cookies into crumbs. This will help the crumbs blend smoothly into the milk.
  • Add the crushed cookies, cream, and shaved chocolate to warm, not boiling, milk. Whisk well until everything melts smoothly. If the milk is heating too quickly, remove it from the heat and let it cool down a bit before continuing.
  • For extra richness consider adding a little heavy cream to your milk. This will make your hot chocolate even more indulgent.
