Ingredients

  • 14.3 ounces Oreos (1 package)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature (1 brick)
  • 1 pound melting chocolate (see note)
  • Sprinkles optional, for topping

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Using a food processor, crush the cookies to fine crumbs. Add in the cream cheese and continue to pulse until the cream cheese has mixed in with the crumbs to form a dough.
  3. Remove from the food processor and place the dough into a bowl. Use a portion scoop or spoon to roll into balls no bigger than 1½ inches.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave, in 30 second increments, until it is completely melted. Stir the chocolate with a spoon to make sure it is melted, and smooth.
  5. Dip each truffle into the chocolate, covering it completely. Remove with a spoon or a fork and place on parchment or wax paper, letting the truffles sit until the chocolate sets.
  6. Repeat with other chocolates and drizzle or top with sprinkles, if desired.

Notes

  • Chocolate: If using white and milk chocolate, use half a pound of each.
  • Storage: Store Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • Chocolate: If using white and milk chocolate, use half a pound of each.
  • This recipe makes 28 truffles using the a 1½ inch scoop.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, place the cookies in a large bag and crush them until they are a fine powder. Remove or crush any large pieces. Add the crumbs into a large bowl and stir in the cream cheese.
  • I use a 1½ inch portion scoop, which I feel is the perfect size. If you want a smaller single bite truffle, make them about 1 inch in size. I wouldn’t suggest going too much bigger than 1½ inches in size.
  • You can dip these in any color of melting chocolates for theme parties or holiday events. I made a truffle tree using a styrofoam tree and attached them with toothpicks. It was the perfect way to serve them at a party!
  • Make sure that you take out the cream cheese an hour before you plan to make these truffles. Your cream cheese must be soft before you mix it in.
  • You can also use a toothpick to help cover the truffles in chocolate. Stick a toothpick into the truffle and roll it in the chocolate. Drip off any excess.
  • You can also add crushed Oreo cookies to the top of these truffles. Make sure to add them while the chocolate is still wet.
