Ingredients

  • 24 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 3 egg large
  • 1 cup bread crumbs gluten-free, if needed, Italian seasoned
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup whole-wheat flour gluten-free, if needed
  • marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Unwrap all the mozzarella sticks. Whisk the eggs in a medium bowl.
  2. Combine the bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, and salt in a Ziploc bag and shake to combine.
  3. Spread the mixture onto a large, rimmed plate. Finally, spread the flour onto a large, rimmed plate.
  4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Cover one mozzarella stick in flour. Dip it into the egg, shaking off any excess.
  5. Using your other dry hand (it's essential to keep one hand dry), cover the mozzarella stick in the breadcrumb mixture and place it on the pan. Repeat with all sticks.
  6. Freeze for 2 hours.
  7. Once ready, heat the oven to 400°F and bake the sticks directly from the freezer for 8-10 minutes, until they are soft but still hold their shape.
  8. Serve immediately with marinara sauce and enjoy!
