Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries use large sweet potatoes seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic and onion powders, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Baking at high temperature crisps the outside while keeping the inside tender, offering a flavorful alternative to fried fries. The seasoning provides balanced warmth and depth without overpowering the natural sweetness of the potatoes.
Ingredients
- 3 large sweet potato
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Cut potatoes into fry-size pieces about ½-inch thick.
- Mix spices in a small bowl. Place fries into a bowl or large ziplock bag.
- Add seasonings and toss until fries are covered with seasoning.
- Place on a non-stick baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven.
Notes
- Leave sweet potato peels on for added fiber and nutrition; scrub them well before slicing.
- Cut fries into uniform sizes for consistent cooking and texture.
- Arrange fries in a single layer on the baking sheet to promote crispiness and even cooking; use two sheets if needed to avoid overcrowding.
- High oven temperature is essential to achieve crispy edges and tender centers.
