Ingredients

  • 4 egg at room temperature, large, whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • Fresh fruit such as strawberries, kiwi, or blueberries, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the egg whites with a mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar until stiff peaks form.
  3. Fold in vanilla, cream of tartar, and cornstarch into the egg white mixture.
  4. Spread the meringue into an 8-inch circle on the prepared baking sheet, creating a slight well in the center.
  5. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, then turn off the oven and let the pavlova cool completely inside.
  6. Once cooled, top with whipped cream and fresh fruit before serving.
