Ingredients

  • 1-2 tsp butter for greasing your baking dishes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar for dusting the baking dishes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 vanilla bean seeds or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large pear or 2 small ones
  • 1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries ( do not thaw if frozen)

Notes

  • Double or triple this batch of blueberry pear clafoutis for a larger company and bake it in one large dish for convenience, or make a tiny batch and enjoy it right away!
  • Feel free to swap pears for apples or apricots and season the custard with cinnamon, lemon zest or nutmeg.
  • Clafoutis is best eaten the day it's made but the custard can theoretically be stored in the fridge for up to three days.
