Pennsylvania Dutch Cornbread

This Pennsylvania Dutch cornbread recipe is easy to prepare and makes the perfect picnic, barbeque, or side dish for any meal. It’s a classic sweet Amish cornbread that is quick to make, and perfect with butter.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cornmeal yellow
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg large
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter melted, unsalted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and grease an 8X5 inch loaf cake pan.
  2. Add the cornmeal, flour, sugar, and baking powder to a bowl and whisk together.
  3. In a separate bowl stir together milk, butter, and egg.
  4. Pour the milk mixture into the flour and stir until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  5. Fill the loaf cake pan with the cornbread batter.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Enjoy!
