Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 small white onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 4 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup pepperjack cheese, shredded
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Add salt and pepper to 2 lbs sirloin steak, .
  2. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and heat to medium-high in a large cast iron skillet. Add the steak and sear each side for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and toss with the meat. Remove from the pan.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, 2 cloves garlic, 1 red bell pepper,1 green bell pepper, 1 small white onion, and 4 ounces mushrooms, to the pan.
  5. Cook for two minutes until the veggies are tender.
  6. Add 4 ounces cream cheese and 1/2 cup heavy cream and mix well. Bring everything to a simmer and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Add the steak back to the skillet. Sprinkle with shredded 1 cup pepperjack cheese, and stir to combine.
  8. Transfer the cheesesteak mixture into a greased baking dish. Layer with 6 slices provolone cheese slices on top and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden.
