Notes
- Only use dry spices and not any marinades or wet spices as these will burn.
- Use lots of mayo and cheese - the sliders are much more enjoyable and decadent when you fully load them.
- I brush the slider tops with melted butter, seasoning and herbs just for flavor and it’s completely optional but SO good!
- Make sure your sliders are covered when grilling at the end to stop any burning.
- It really doesn't matter what cheese you use in this recipe as it goes really well with most types so you can choose which you prefer. In this recipe, I used marbled cheddar. Other popular cheeses on cheesesteaks are mild provolone and white American cheese.
- The main ingredients of a Philly cheesesteak are thinly sliced steak (lamb or beef) grilled or fried with onions and optionally mushrooms or/and peppers. You can add spices and seasoning to give it extra flavor. You can also put sauces on your Philly cheesesteaks such as mayonnaise or any other sauces you like.
- There are lots of great sides that go really well with a Philly cheesesteak. Some of the most popular side dishes with cheesesteak are fries, coleslaw, salad, wedges, or onion rings.
- Beef is the most popular meat to use for Philly cheesesteaks especially the rib eye or flank cut of meat. However, you can also use other meats such as lamb for some variation, which also goes really nicely in this sandwich.
- Philly cheesesteak is really very easy. You can cook the meat under the grill or on the stove. The meat is then layered onto sandwiches or sliders with cheese and may and placed under the grill to melt the cheese.
