Ingredients

  • green onions
  • diced pimentos drained
  • shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • shredded pepper jack cheese
  • cream cheese softened
  • Bisquik
  • garlic powder
  • salt and black pepper
  • pork sausage

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheets: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
  2. In a bowl add your chopped green onion, diced and drained pimentos, shredded cheese, cream cheese, and spices
  3. To the cheese mixture, crumble in the pork sausage and add the bisquick. Use your hands to gently incorporate the sausage until evenly distributed.
  4. Form the sausage balls: Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form bite-sized balls. Place the sausage balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  5. Bake the sausage balls for 18-22 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Rotate the baking sheets halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
  6. Remove the sausage balls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. If desired, serve warm, and garnish with additional green onions.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality, flavorful pork sausage for maximum impact.
  • Grate the cheddar cheese by hand for a better texture.
  • Chill the sausage ball mixture for 30 minutes before shaping to help it firm up.
  • Add cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • Make ahead and freeze unbaked sausage balls for easy entertaining.
