Pineapple Dump Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 20 ounces pineapple chunks
  • 20 ounces crushed pineapple
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 15.25 ounce yellow cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 20 ounces pineapple slices drained
  • cherries for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and great a 9x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the pineapple chunks and crushed pineapple with all the juices into your baking dish.
  3. Top that with the brown sugar. Then sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the top.
  4. Thinly slice your butter and place it on top of the cake mix.
  5. Add the pineapple slices and put a cherry in the middle of each one if you like.
  6. Place in the oven and bake for 60 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • This cake is delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream.
  • Don't stir the cake mix into the fruit—just sprinkle it evenly over the top. Break up any large clumps of cake mix before sprinkling.
  • Make sure your butter slices are very thin and evenly distributed.
  • Do not drain the crushed pineapple or pineapple chunks. The juice helps create a moist and tender cake.
  • Yellow cake is traditional, but you can use white cake or butter cake if that is what you have.
