Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • freshly cracked black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Pinch of crushed red pepper optional

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, dried basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes to the saucepan. Stir to combine.
  3. Cover the saucepan, bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
