Poached Eggs in the Microwave

Ingredients

  • 1/2 to 1 cup water cold
  • 2 egg large
  • salt to taste, sea salt
  • black pepper to taste, freshly ground

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Fill a microwave-safe mug or bowl with enough water to fill it at least half way.
  2. Carefully crack an egg into the water-filled cup, and make sure it is fully submerged in water. If it's not, carefully add extra water.
  3. Cover the cup with a microwave-safe lid or plate.
  4. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then check the egg. If it's not perfectly poached to your liking yet, continue microwaving in 10-second bursts, checking between each one. The egg whites will look fully set when it's ready.
  5. Remove the cover and allow any steam to release safely. Take out the poached egg with a slotted spoon.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and enjoy!
