Polpette with Mozzarella (Italian Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs)

This recipe for Italian mozzarella stuffed meatballs is to die for. The addition of mozzarella makes this dish absolutely amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 cups Pecorino-Romano cheese grated
  • 1 cup fresh Italian parsley chopped
  • 1/2 /2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 4 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese cubed

  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly combine all the ingredients above except for the olive oil and mozzarella.
  2. Using your hands, roll the meat into golf ball sized meatballs. With your finger make a hole in the center and place a cube of mozzarella.
  3. Cover the cheese with the remaining meat, and shape into an oval.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan.
  5. Fry the meatball for about 3 minutes on each side. Until meatballs are golden brown.
  6. Drain on a paper towel and serve warm.
