Ingredients

  • 8 pieces chicken
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 packet of sazón (or 2 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
For the chicken
  • 1 tsps salt
  • 2 tsps paprika
For the wet batter
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 6-8 cups vegetable oil for frying

  1. Preheat your oil to 350° degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder and spices.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together eggs, cold water, and hot sauce using a whisk.
  4. In a separate bowl, season the chicken with the spices.
  5. First, coat the chicken in flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then, dip it in egg batter and coat again in flour, shaking off any excess.
  6. For best results, let your chicken rest while it is fully coated for 15 minutes before frying. This will ensure that the coating sticks well and results in a crispy and delicious fried chicken.
  7. For best results, deep fry your chicken in 350°F oil for 8-10 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
