Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion diced, medium
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger freshly grated
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, crushed
  • 1 ounce can water chestnut drained and diced
  • 1 butter lettuce leaves separated, cleaned, and dried, head
  • green onion optional, for garnish, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground pork and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes.
  2. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add diced water chestnuts and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  5. Serve the pork mixture in butter lettuce leaves. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
