Pumpkin Spice Syrup

Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Mix water and sugar together in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Continually stir/swirl the ingredients as they cook until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove from the heat.
  4. Stir in the pumpkin puree, cinnamon stick, ginger, allspice and cloves.
  5. Steep the ingredients for 30 minutes to 1 hour, then remove the cinnamon stick (or leave it in for stronger flavor.)
  6. Transfer to a mason jar, and let cool completely before transferring to the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Makes 16 (½ oz.) servings.
  • If you like nutmeg, consider adding 1/8 – ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg to the syrup to add some warmth, too.
  • Store up in a sealed mason jar in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
