Sauteed Green Beans with Bacon and Water Chestnuts
Make restaurant-worthy green beans by adding a soy sauce glaze, crispy bacon, and water chestnuts. It's easy to do and ready in about 20 minutes!
Ingredients
- 16 ounces Bacon
- 2 pounds Green bean ends trimmed, fresh
- 1 (8 ounce can) water chestnut drained, sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Chop 16 ounces bacon into bite-sized pieces. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain all but 1–2 tablespoons of the bacon grease.
- Add 2 pounds fresh green beans, 1 (8 ounce can) sliced water chestnuts, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 cloves minced garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to the skillet.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes, until the green beans are tender but still crisp, and the soy sauce has reduced slightly, coating the green beans.
- Return the bacon to the skillet and toss to combine. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Notes
- For softer green beans, simply cook for longer, or use frozen green beans which start off softer once thawed.
