Scalloped Potatoes without Cheese

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter divided use
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic 
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 2 pounds Russet potatoes peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a deep-dish pie plate or 2-quart casserole dish.
  2. Place the remaining butter and the garlic in a wide saucepan over medium heat and cook until the garlic becomes translucent. Add the remaining ingredients, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook for about 15 minutes.
  3. Transfer the potatoes to the casserole dish and pour the cream over the potatoes.
  4. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake until the top is golden. Remove from the oven and allow the potatoes to rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
