Seasoned Ground Turkey
Seasoned Ground Turkey is a spiced poultry dish cooked with chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic, and onion powders simmered in chicken stock. The ground turkey browns first, then is coated in a flavorful sauce that thickens as it simmers. This versatile cooked meat can be used as a base for tacos or other recipes requiring seasoned ground meat. Its mildly spicy seasoning lifts the lean turkey without overwhelming its natural flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken stock (or water)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon as it browns. Cook the ground turkey until browned and no longer pink.
- Reduce the heat to low, then add the chicken stock and spices. Stir together until the meat is coated in the sauce. Bring it to a simmer for 5 minutes until the liquid reduces and thickens a bit.
- Use in tacos or your desired recipe.
Notes
- Store cooked seasoned ground turkey in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat just before serving.
- Freeze in freezer-safe containers for up to 2 months; thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
