Sesame Dressing Recipe
This Sesame Dressing combines toasted sesame seeds, brown sugar, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and soy sauce into a balanced, flavorful dressing. It brings a sweet, tangy, and nutty profile with a smooth, pourable texture, suitable for salads or drizzling over vegetables. The combination of ingredients allows it to be stored or used immediately after allowing flavors to meld.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (see note 1)
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar (see note 2)
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds see note 3, toasted
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Instructions
- In a small bowl with a whisk, or in a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine brown sugar, olive oil, vinegar, sesame seeds, and soy sauce.
- If you're going to use the dressing right away, let it sit out on the counter to let the flavors meld. Otherwise, store it in the refrigerator and shake it up again before you use it.
Notes
- Brown sugar can be substituted with honey or maple syrup depending on your preference.
- Red wine vinegar can be replaced with rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar for a milder flavor.
- Toast sesame seeds in a medium skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and fragrant to enhance flavor.
- This recipe yields about 1½ cups, enough for twelve 2-tablespoon servings.
- Store leftover dressing in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to four days; shake or whisk well before each use.
