Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Use a pestle and mortar to crush and grind the toasted sesame seeds. It is fine to have some intact seeds here and there.
  2. Add sesame seeds, mayonnaise, rice vinegar, soy sauce and honey to a mixing bowl. Stir to combine. Drizzle in sesame oil and stir to combine.
  3. Taste the dressing and adjust to your liking. Once you are happy with how it tastes, check the consistency. If it is too thick, you can add in just a bit of water (1/2 - 1 teaspoon) to adjust the consistency.

Notes

  • It is best to serve this dressing with a green salad consisting of: 3-4 cups of lettuce (around 120g), a medium cucumber, cherry tomatoes and 1-2 hard boiled eggs. The salad can serve 3-4 people.
  • I use raw unhulled sesame seeds and toast them in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes. They provide much more flavor and texture than hulled white sesame seeds.
  • I personally prefer Western mayo over Japanese mayo (Kewpie) for this recipe. If you want to use Japanese mayo, you may need to use more rice vinegar.
  • I think you can replace the sesame seeds with tahini. Just add it gradually and experiment with the taste.
