Seven Layer Salad Recipe
Seven Layer Salad combines shredded lettuce, diced red onion, sliced celery, peas, and shredded cheddar cheese layered under a sweet mayonnaise topping sprinkled with crumbled bacon. Ingredients
- 1 head lettuce shredded
- 1/2 cup red onion diced (see note 1)
- 2-3 celery sliced (about 1 cup, ribs
- 12 ounces peas thawed (see note 2, frozen
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (see note 3)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 1/2 pound Bacon fried and crumbled
Instructions
- Spread the lettuce evenly in the bottom of a glass bowl. Top with red onion, celery, and peas.
- Spread mayonnaise on top of celery and sprinkle with sugar. Top with cheddar cheese and bacon. Cover and chill.
Notes
- Soak diced onions in ice water for 10 minutes to mellow sharpness, then drain before layering.
- Thaw frozen peas by rinsing under cold water and draining well to avoid excess moisture.
- Sugar in the mayo dressing adds subtle sweetness but can be omitted if desired.
