Sharp Cheese Bread Bites Recipe
Sharp Cheese Bread Bites are small cubes of white bread coated with a creamy sharp cheddar and butter mixture. The bread is partially frozen to help slicing and to make the coating process easier. After coating, the bites are baked until the edges brown, resulting in a snack that balances the softness of bread with melted, flavorful sharp cheddar butter on all sides.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf white bread unsliced
- 1 cup butter at room temperature, salted
- 230 gram sharp cheddar cheese at room temperature, Imperial brand
Instructions
- Carefully cut most of the crust off of the bread. Gently slice bread into thick (two-bite sized) squares. Put the bread pieces onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and freeze them for 1 hour.
- Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sharp cheese.
- Remove bread from the freezer and spread the butter and cheese mixture on all sides of the bread cubes. Return the bread to the freezer for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Arrange the bread bites in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are starting to turn brown.
Notes
- Freeze the bread partially if it is difficult to slice without squashing.
- Make sure to freeze the coated bread bites for at least one hour before baking to help the coating stick and bake evenly.
