Ingredients

  • 1 pound farfalle pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • kosher salt and pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 16 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chicken stock, or reserved pasta water
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, chopped

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the farfalle according to the package directions.
  3. While it’s boiling, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef with a big pinch of salt and pepper and the garlic powder. Cook until browned, breaking it apart into small crumbles. Stir in the ketchup and mustard until combined. Turn off the heat and add in a sprinkle of cheese - just 2 to 3 ounces.
  4. Once the pasta has been drained, spread it out on a large sheet pan. Add the chicken stock (or starchy pasta water) into the pan. This helps keep the pasta tender and moist and prevents it from drying out.
  5. Sprinkle half the cheese on the pasta. Sprinkle the ground beef mixture on top. Then top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until warm and melted together. Remove and immediately top with green onions and tomatoes. You can add anything else you like on your burger too!
  7. Serve immediately. This should definitely be seasoned enough, but you can always add a pinch of salt and pepper if needed!
