Ingredients

  • 3 chicken breasts , boneless & skinless
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 lices American cheese , or preferred cheese

Instructions

  1. Add chicken breasts, salt and pepper, and water to a pot and bring to a boil on medium-high heat.
  2. Cook for 15-18 minutes.
  3. Remove the chicken and add to stand mixer.
  4. Shred on speed level 3 until well shredded.
  5. Drain all but 1/2 cup of the cooking water and add in the bbq sauce.
  6. Add the chicken back into the pot and cook on medium heat until sauce has thickened, about 6-8 minutes.
  7. Serve on hamburger buns with a slice of cheese.
