Makes about ¼ cup. I recommend to use 1 heaping tablespoon per 1 pound of shrimp.

Ingredients

  • ½ tablespoon fresh lemon zest (about 1 medium-sized lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried marjoram
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes*

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Thoroughly wash and dry the lemon, then zest it.
  2. Sprinkle the zest onto a piece of wax paper or parchment paper, then cover loosely with a paper towel. Let sit at room temperature until completely dry (about 1 day).
  3. Add black pepper, onion and garlic powder, oregano, basil, marjoram, salt and red pepper flakes to a jar.
  4. Add the dried lemon zest to the jar, then put on the lid and shake everything until well combined.
  5. Store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 3 months. Shake well before each use.

Notes

  • *This seasoning is mildly spicy. Add more crushed red pepper flakes to taste if you like it spicier.
  • How to use the seasoning:
  • Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
  • Lightly brush with mild olive oil, then set on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with seasoning.
  • Bake at 400 degrees F. until opaque (5 to 8 minutes depending on the size of the shrimp).
