Simple Syrup

Simple syrup (a.k.a. sugar syrup) is quick and easy to make and it's a bartender's essential ingredient for all types of drinks and cocktails. Make it as plain simple syrup or double strength rich syrup. I'll show you how.

Ingredients

FOR SIMPLE SYRUP:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
FOR RICH SYRUP:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIMPLE SYRUP & RICH SYRUP:
    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Let the simple syrup cool then transfer to an airtight storage container or glass jar.
  2. Store at room temperature for 2-3 weeks or in the refrigerator for 2-3 months.

Notes

  • Makes about 1 1/2 cups of simple syrup
