Skillet Green Beans

This simple Skillet Green Beans recipe with lemon and garlic is ready in 30 minutes and goes great with any meal! It can't get more simple than a handful of ingredients in one pan - you're going to love them!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper or to taste
  • ¼ cup chicken broth low sodium or no sodium added
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

  1. Heat the skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the garlic and let it saute for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes aromatic.
  2. Stir in the green beans, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt pepper and broth. Cover the skillet and cook for 10 - 12 minutes; stirring occasionally.
  3. Uncover the skillet, turn heat down to medium-low and continue to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, just until the green beans start to char a bit. Finally, stir in the lemon juice, garnish with parsley and serve warm!

Notes

  • Butter vs. Oil: This recipe uses butter for a richer flavor, but olive oil works well for a dairy-free option.
  • Adjust the Heat: Red pepper flakes add a little kick but are optional. Feel free to omit or use cayenne for a different kind of spice.
  • Veggie-Friendly: Easily make this dish vegetarian by using vegetable broth in place of chicken broth.
  • Cooking Time: If using frozen green beans, add a few extra minutes to the cooking time for the best texture.
  • Serving Size: This recipe serves about 4 as a side dish but can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
