Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas on New Year’s Day are a family tradition we’ve been following for as long as I remember. It’s full of flavor with onion, garlic and ham. It will warm you on a cold winter day, for sure.

Ingredients

  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 1 Tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 lb dried black-eyed peas
  • 1 1/2 cups ham chopped
  • 5 lices Bacon cooked
  • 2 ounce fire roasted tomatoes canned
  • 7 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp parsley fresh

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the dried beans to the slow cooker (no need to pre-soak).
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, black eye peas, bacon, chopped ham, tomatoes and chicken broth in the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on HIGH for about 7 hours.
  4. Sprinkle on salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with parsley.
