Ingredients

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/8 cup dry sake
  • 1/8 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons ginger minced
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 talks green onions chopped
  • toasted sesame seeds

  1. In a crockpot, combine the chicken, sake, mirin, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger. Season with black pepper to taste. Turn the crockpot to high and cook for 4 to 4 1/2 hours.
  2. Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and shred it using two forks.
  3. Pour the reserved liquid from the crockpot into a small saucepan and heat it to a rolling boil. Mix together the water and cornstarch, then stir this mixture into the sauce and cook until thickened. Add the shredded chicken to the pot and top with sesame seeds and green onions.
