Ingredients

Slow Cook:
  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream more if needed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Cinnamon Sugar Walnut Topping:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup walnuts chopped

Instructions

Slow Cook:
    Cup of Yum
  1. Add peeled and chopped sweet potatoes to the slow cooker.
  2. Add water, top with butter and brown sugar. Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-6 hours.
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  4. Mix with an electric hand mixer or a masher until smooth.
Cinnamon Sugar Walnut Topping:
  1. Place a small skillet over medium heat. Add butter and melt.
  2. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, chopped walnuts, and stir to combine.
  3. Serve warm and top of mashed sweet potatoes.
