Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken
Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken features bite-sized chicken breast coated in cornstarch and cooked slowly in a sweet and savory sauce made from sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. The chicken becomes tender while soaking up the rich sauce, finished with sesame seeds and green onions for a simple yet flavorful meal served ideally with rice.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs chicken breast cut into 1-inch chunks, boneless skinless
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- cooking spray
Sauce:
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger grated, fresh
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Garnish:
- ½ teaspoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons green onion sliced
Instructions
- Place the chicken pieces in a large ziplock bag.
- Add the cornstarch and toss to coat evenly.
- In a large measuring cup, combine all the sauce ingredients. Add the sauce to the ziplock bag with the chicken. Toss to combine. Freeze for later or place in the fridge to marinate if using within one day.
- When ready to cook, thaw the bag (if frozen) with the Honey Sesame Chicken.
- Coat a slow cooker with cooking spray and add the mixture to the slow cooker.
- Cook on HIGH for 3 hours or on LOW for 6-7 hours.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve with rice.
