Slow Cooker Turkey Legs

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs turkey legs About 6
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker with a light coating of cooking spray.
  2. Brush the turkey legs with olive oil and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the dried seasonings and stir until well mixed.
  4. Rub the entire mixture over each side of the turkey legs.
  5. Transfer the seasoned legs into the prepared slow cooker.
  6. Pour 2 cups of water in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  7. Cover the pot and cook for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low. 
  8. Remove legs from slow cooker and transfer to serving platter.
  9. Optional: Place under the broiler for a few minutes to brown the skin, if desired.
  10. Serve with fresh parsley as garnish.

Notes

  • Temp the thickest part: When checking the doneness of the turkey legs with a thermometer, insert it into the thickest part and try to avoid touching the bone for accuracy.
  • Let them rest: Allow the cooked turkey legs to rest for about 10 minutes before serving. This lets the juices redistribute preventing the meat from becoming dry.
