Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1/2 ounce mezcal I like using Del Maguey Vida here. If you use a less smoky Mezcal, it might be good to use an ounce of both the Mezcal and the Blanco
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine see recipe below
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice fresh
To make Grenadine:
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice Make sure it's 100% pomegranate; POM Wonderful is a good brand
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups pomegranate molasses
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water

Instructions

For the Grenadine:
    Cup of Yum
  1. Heat pomegranate juice until just before a boil. Remove from heat and add the sugar, pomegranate molasses, and orange blossom water. Stir to dissolve, and let cool.
For the Smoke & Mirrors Cocktail:
  1. Shake all ingredients together and pour into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime and some fresh pomegranate seeds.

Notes

  • Grenadine recipe courtesy of Jeffrey Morgenthaler.
