Sour Cream Noodle Bake

This flavorful Sour Cream Noodle Bake takes pasta to a whole new level! Using sour cream, cottage cheese, ground beef, tomato sauce, noodles and plenty of mozzarella, this recipe will have you coming back for seconds and even thirds!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • ½ cup onion about ½ medium onion, diced, yellow
  • 2 teaspoons garlic about 2 cloves, minced
  • 1 (15-ounce) tomato sauce canned
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 ¼ cup cottage cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • green onion sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the 1 pound lean ground beefand ½ cup diced yellow onion, over medium-high heat. Cook until all the beef is browned, 8-10 minutes. Add in 2 teaspoons minced garlic, and sauté another minute.
  3. Add in 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce and salt and pepper to taste, sauté for another 5 minutes, stirring continually. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Cook the 12 ounces egg noodles according to package directions, drain, and set aside.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup sour cream, 1 ¼ cup cottage cheese, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
  6. Mix the egg noodles into the sour cream mixture and pour half of the noodle mixture into the baking dish. Pour half of the meat mixture on top of the noodles.
  7. Repeat one more layer of noodles, then meat sauce, and top it with 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before topping with sliced green onions for garnish and serving.
