Sparkly Paloma and French Kiss - New Year's Eve cocktails

Ingredients

  • Sparkly Paloma
  • 2 tequila blanco shots
  • 1 tsp agave syrup optional - add more or none to taste
  • 90 ml grapefruit juice half a large grapefruit, 3fl oz, fresh
  • sparkling wine such as sparkling moscato to top up, pink
  • lice pink grapefruit fresh cranberries to garnish
  • sugar to rim the glass
  • French Kiss
  • 1 -2 gin depending on how strong you like your drinks, shots
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice fresh
  • 1 tsp grenadine optional, or rosewater
  • sparkling wine such as sparkling moscato to top up, pink
  • pomegranate seeds to garnish

Instructions

  1. Sparkling Paloma: Fill a small plate with granulated sugar. Run a piece of grapefruit around the rim of a highball glass and dip into the sugar to frost. Fill glass with fresh ice.
  2. Put the tequila, agave syrup and grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into your highball glass. Top the glass with pink sparkling wine and add a slice of pink grapefruit. Garnish with fresh cranberries threaded onto a cocktail stick (optional).
  3. French Kiss: put the gin, lemon juice and grenadine in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Top with pink sparkling wine and garnish with a few pomegranate seeds.
