Spicy Thai Chicken Skewers (Chicken Kebabs)
These Spicy Thai Chicken Kebabs (Thai Chicken Skewers) with Black Pepper and Thai Basil Chicken are full of aromatic, peppery, authentic Thai flavors!
Ingredients
Thai Spice Mix
- 7 - 10 basil leaves Thai variety
- 1 tbsp black pepper cracked
- ½ tbsp chili flakes aka red pepper flakes
- 1 inch ginger sliced
- 2 - 3 garlic cloves
- 2 tsp fish sauce
- ¼ tsp salt or more to taste if desired
- 1 tbsp palm sugar or brown sugar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Chicken Kebabs
- 1.5 lbs chicken thigh boneless, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 8 - 10 wooden skewers soaked in water overnight
- oil to make sure it doesn’t stick, for brushing on
- Thai basil to sprinkle on top, Thai basil chopped
- black pepper to sprinkle on top, Thai basil chopped
- romaine lettuce to serve
Instructions
Spice Mix
- Place all the ingredients in a small food processor and pulse until you have a smooth paste. Set aside.
Chicken Kebabs
- Mix the chicken and spice mix together, and set aside for at least a few hours to marinate, preferably overnight. Also, place the wooden skewers in water, to soak overnight as well.
- The next day, skewer the chicken, dividing it up between 8 - 10 skewers.
- Prepare the grill to a medium high heat, and brush the grill with some oil.
- Place the chicken skewers on the grill, and cook them about 5 - 10 minutes per side until the chicken has nice grill marks. Cook the chicken kebabs on all sides.
- Sprinkle black pepper and chopped basil on top before serving. Serve with Romaine lettuce (optional).
