Ingredients

  • 25 small dried whole red chiles
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. With a paring knife, slice each red chili pepper in half, scrape off the seeds, and discard the seeds. If you want this extra spicy, keep the seeds.
  2. In a small food processor or spice grinder, pulverize red chiles a few at a time. Keep pulverizing until all red chiles are finely ground. Add brown sugar, sea salt, and garlic powder, and finely grind again.
  3. Transfer to an air-tight container or spice jar for up to two months.

Notes

  • Either use latex gloves when handling chiles or make sure to not touch your eyes or face and wash your hands after handling the seeds.
