Ingredients

  • 4 ounces almond milk
  • 1½ teaspoons honey
  • 2 shots espresso 2 ounces

  1. Steam almond milk, do not froth it too much.
  2. Pour honey in a coffee cup.
  3. Add espresso and stir to dissolve the honey.
  4. Pour the steamed and lightly frothed almond milk into the cup.
  5. Spoon some almond milk foam on top if desired.

Notes

  • The key to a perfect flat white is in the milk texture. Unlike a latte or cappuccino, a flat white should have minimal foam—just enough for a velvety mouthfeel. When steaming almond milk, use a slightly higher temperature than dairy milk for optimal results, but be careful not to scorch it, which happens more easily with plant-based milks. For the most authentic flavor, choose an unsweetened almond milk that doesn't contain carrageenan, as this will steam better and allow the honey's flavor to come through cleanly.
