Sticky Orange Sesame Tofu Recipe (Gluten-Free)

Ingredients

  • 1 block tofu drained and cubed, firm
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
Orange sesame sauce
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce gluten-free
  • ⅓ cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 3 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil toasted
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger ground
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200C).
  2. Remove your tofu from the package and cut into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Wrap tofu cubes in paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  4. To a medium mixing bowl add in all the sauce ingredients and mix well.
  5. Add the cubed tofu to the marinade and mix gently. Set aside for 15 minutes. Tip: If you have the time, let the tofu marinate for 2 hours in the fridge.
  6. Using tongs remove each tofu cube from the marinade and place into a clean mixing bowl. Reserve the leftover marinade for later.
  7. Add the tapioca flour to the tofu and gently toss until coated.
  8. Place each tofu cube onto a lined (or oiled) baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Add the remaining tofu marinade to a saucepan. Cook over medium high heat until the sauce becomes sticky, about 5 minutes.
  10. When the tofu is finished baking, combine the tofu and orange sesame sauce. Then sprinkle the sesame seeds over top and serve.
