Strawberry Cherry Smoothies

I tested this recipe during the cooler months with frozen cherries that we had stored from the previous cherry season and it was so good! I then waited and waited and waited for cherry season to share it with you, but I didn’t realize this smoothie can be made year round since you can use fresh or frozen cherries. Duh. At least the pictures look nice with the fresh cherries everywhere. I hope you all enjoy this as much as we do!

Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange peeled and separated into wedges
  • 1 banana peeled and quartered
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries hulled
  • 1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen sweet red cherries pitted
  • Drizzle of honey or agave nectar to taste, if desired

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine all of the ingredients in an electric blender. Add ingredients in the order they are listed. As a rule of thumb, you want to add the liquid first and the frozen last and everything else goes in between. Blend until smooth.
  2. If you like your smoothies a little sweeter, you can drizzle in your favorite sweetener such as honey or agave nectar to taste, then pulse in blender until well incorporated. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Either strawberries or cherries could be frozen. If you like your smoothies chilled, it's best to have at least one frozen fruit.
