Strawberry Sauce

This delightful recipe is easy to follow and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon cold water

Instructions

  1. If using fresh strawberries wash and hull them. Slice them into 3 or 4 pieces per berry.
  2. Put the strawberries along with the 1/3 cup of water, lemon juice and sugar in a small saucepan.
  3. Bring it to a boil on medium heat, stirring gently.
  4. Once it reaches a boil reduce the heat to low and use a potato masher ot mash the berries to your desired consistency. Let the berries simmer on low for about 5 minutes.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with the cold water in a small bowl. Pour it into the berry mixture while stirring.
  6. Cook the berries for one more minute. Then take them off the heat and pour into a glass jar or bowl.
  7. Let cool to room temperature, then store, tightly covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • You can easily double or triple this recipe.
  • This keeps in the refrigerator tightly covered for 2 weeks.
