Ingredients
- 1 cup water filtered
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 16 ounces strawberries
Instructions
- Clean strawberries and remove stems. If strawberries are large you can cut in half.
- Add water and sugar to a small saucepan. Heat on medium-high and cook until the sweetener dissolves. This will take about 5 minutes.
- Add the clean strawberries to the simple syrup and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to simmer and remove any foam that forms over the strawberries. Simmer for up to 25 minutes.
- Remove from heat and strain syrup with a sieve or cheese cloth over a clean bowl. Discard fruit.
- Place the red syrup back in the pan. Simmer for up to an additional 15 minutes or untiled desired syrup texture. Cool and strain into clean jar a second time. .

Notes
- For a syrup with the fruit, break fruit wit a fork or potato masher at step 3.
- For a sugar free option, use a granulated sweetener like monk fruit, erythritol, allulose or a combination of your favorite varieties.
- To preserve the syrup you can add 1 tablespoon of vodka after the simple syrup has cooled.
