Sugar-Free Gingerade

This cool and refreshing drink is a cross between ginger ale and lemon-lime Gatorade. Bursting with fresh lemon and lime juice, and sweetened with stevia, this drink will have virtually no impact on your blood sugar levels. Feel free to enjoy it anytime you like!

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon ginger or more, to taste, fresh juice
  • 1 cup sparkling water or still water
  • 1 white stevia or 8 drops liquid stevia, packet

  1. The trick to making this drink is juicing the fresh ginger. There are a few ways to juice ginger, but we decided that this ceramic grater was the easiest way to do it, without wasting a drop of juice! You simply peel the fresh ginger, and run it back and forth over the ceramic grater.
  2. When there's only a bit of pulp left in your hands, squeeze out the extra juice, then pour it all through a mesh strainer into a bowl-- saving the juice, and discarding the pulp.
  3. Next, juice your lemons and limes, then measure out a teaspoon of each juice, combining them in a glass with a packet of NuNaturals stevia. (Liquid stevia works great, too!)
  4. Pour one cup of sparkling water over the mixture, and stir well. Adjust flavors to taste.
  5. Add ice and enjoy!

Notes

  • *Note: I don't recommend drinking carbonated water on a regular basis, as carbonated gas (which is added to the water) has been linked to dental erosion and calcium loss. If you are weaning yourself off regular or diet soda, this is a great transition option! However, if you'd like to make this drink even healthier, skip the carbonated water and use still water instead.
