Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2-3 drops Red food coloring

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Place the sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder and ketchup in a small pan over medium high heat. Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the corn starch and cold water.
  3. Slowly whisk the corn starch mixture into the sauce, then bring to a boil. Cook for 1 minute or until sauce has just thickened.
  4. Stir in the red food coloring. Cool slightly and use right away, or refrigerate for later use.

Notes

  • The red food coloring is for visual purposes only and does not change the flavor of the sauce, so it's fine to omit it if you don't have any on hand.
  • The finished sauce will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
