Sweet Chili Sauce

Our Sweet Chili Sauce is so easy to make and incredibly diverse! You can use it as a dipping sauce, a coating sauce or drizzled over different dishes for a sweet, tangy and slightly spicy kick!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sambal oelek
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 minced garlic clove (about 3/4 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot combine vinegar, water, and sugar.
  2. Dissolve sugar over medium heat and simmer.
  3. Stir in sambal, soy sauce and cornstarch slurry. Simmer for 1 minute until sauce thickens (it will thicken more as it cools). Remove from heat and cool.

  • **Recipe makes 1 1/4 cups** **Each serving is 2 tablespoons**

  • Storing Instructions
  • Once the sweet chili sauce has cooled completely, it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, for up to 2 weeks.
  • If you're unable to find Sambal I recommend replacing it with either Harissa or Calabrian chili paste!
  • You can replace the sugar with honey (1:1) but the flavor and consistency will be slightly different.
